Travelogue 2022, Part I

With many tears, hopes, excitement and no small amount of trepidation, we set out from Kapsowar on May 21 to begin five months of travel.

We visited friends in Mombasa first. Dominic was so happy to be reunited with them, especially his good friend Oscar.

We met the tortoises that live at our friends' apartment complex. These things are so big - Kris thought they were just statues, and I completely didn't see them as I was looking along the ground for a "normal" size tortoise! And for those of you who aren't impressed, remember that Dominic has grown a LOT!

Kris and I got to go out for dinner without Dominic for the first time in a long time - thanks to Mike and Ashley!

We then headed down the coast to Diani, where Kris and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. We relaxed, soaked in the sun, and swam and swam and swam for a few days before starting the next stage of our journey (more details next month!).

(Kris was with us...but the rule for this blog is no shirt, no shoes, no post - I'm not strict about the shoes - so he didn't make the cut!)

We're getting ready to hit the road again! During our absence from Kapsowar, we want to be sure that we thank the people who are helping while we are away - watching our dog and our house, working at the hospital and theology school, taking care of visitors, logistics, and maintenance. We are so grateful to the help that has already arrived and to those who will be coming. And for those of you in North America, we look forward to seeing many of you soon!
