My blog post titles for this summer are turning out to be rather bland - but much easier to search through! Which reminds me - we would love to re-name this blog. Any fun ideas related to Kapsowar, Kenya, our family (NOT using our last name), our work? Please leave a comment or email me!
We left Diani (smallest airport I've ever been to, but EXTREMELY convient to not have to travel all the way back to Mombasa by car) and flew first to Nairobi, then on to Europe! We had a week-long conference with our new organization, Serge, in Spain. It was a blessing to meet many other Serge employees from around the world, and particularly to spend time with those in East Africa. This conference happens only once every 4 years (6 years if the world is in a pandemic) so it was amazing timing that we could "stop over" on our way back to North America.

Quite a beautiful view of the pool, a nature reserve, and the beach (Atlantic coast) |

We had cool weather in the mornings, nice for walking on the beach |

Dominic picked up a cold at the childcare program and we decided to keep him at "home" in the hotel room for a day while he was most symptomatic. Fortunately he tested negative for covid, AND we got to do homeschool outside with a wonderful view!
We had a LONG trip from Spain to Seattle - starting with a one-hour wait for our ride to the airport due to a miscommunication, and a few long layovers. | Dominic after about 24 hours without sleep |

We're back in Seattle now. Highlights of our time here have been meeting with so many of our friends and family, celebrating my mom's 60th birthday with her, then Father's Day with Kris and my dad, and helping my parents with construction of their new house.

My patients in Kenya would be shocked to discover that even doctors from the US take time off to help build their family's house. A little manual labor is good for the soul :)
So many friends to visit, so little time!!

We'll be in Salt Lake City and then Montana in July - please contact me if you want to get together!
